Weddingbook ties TheKnot

Filed Under iMatrimony News | 1 Comment

Weddingbook ties TheKnotWeddingbook, the #1 wedding application on Facebook, has been acquired by TheKnot. Announced on Monday in a press release, TheKnot has acquired WedSnap, the developers of WeddingBook, although the terms were not disclosed. Essentially, the WeddingBook app allows for brides to share ideas, vendor, manage guest lists, and wedding registries on Facebook. Which is parallel to TheKnot’s online platform.

WedSnap began the development of the WeddingBook application six years ago, after winning a $250,000 grant from the Facebook fbfund competition. Now, WeddingBook has approximately 450,000 users on Facebook. All sharing details of their weddings planning experience.

This is revolutionary in the world of weddings and technology. TheKnot will add Weddingbook to its network of websites that serve “well over a million engaged couples each year.”

“With this acquisition, The Knot community broadens by branching into the fastest-growing social network of brides on Facebook, while Weddingbook members will have access to our extensive repertoire of tools, content, and vendor directories,” said TheKnot CEO David Liu in a statement.

According to The Knot, the WedSnap team will stay in tact and continue to operate out of their Toronto offices.

{Amazing Apps} THINGS for iPhone

Filed Under Amazing Apps | 1 Comment

Like most event planners, my cell phone is my best friend. I use it to help manage and communicate with clients and vendors during the day. My mobile office manager of choice is the Apple iPhone. I’m a lover of all things Apple, therefore I use many of the iPhone applications to help me be more productive when planning events.

things01 {Amazing Apps} THINGS for iPhone

One of my favorite iPhone apps is, THINGS, by Cultured Code. This iPhone app is “Phenominal!!” Wtih THINGS , I have gone from dreading my To-Do list, to being excited about it.

What I Like:

  • Inbox - Stores new tasks quickly.
  • Today  - Displays every task for that particular day.
  • Next - Gives you a quit look at the day ahead.
  • Scheduled - For those repeat tasks that never end.
  • Someday - Tasks that I’ll get to in the future, or Someday.
  • ProjectsFor the things that take multiple tasks to complete.
  • Logbook - Logs all previous completed tasks.

things02 {Amazing Apps} THINGS for iPhoneMy favorite feature is the Projects manager. With Projects, you can set a task with multiple sub-tasks to accomplish the ultimate goal – completing the project. For instance your Project, “Plan Wedding”, would have multiple tasks like, Hire Wedding Planner, Set a Date, Purchase Wedding Dress. It’s so cool!

THINGS also has a desktop version that allows you to sync wirelessly on your Mac (sorry, not currently available for PC). While the benefits are surmountable, it’s not priceless. THINGS for Mac is $49.95, and THINGS for iPhone is $9.99.

Here are some of the raves, Cultured Code has received on the THINGS app:

macworld {Amazing Apps} THINGS for iPhone “If Things sounds simple, that’s because it is. Other to-do list managers I’ve tried have, quite honestly, gotten in the way of me getting things done. Things doesn’t do that. And I wouldn’t have it any other way.”

The Wonderful World of Twitter

twitter The Wonderful World of Twitter

Recently, I bit the bullet and joined the TwitterNation. I must admit, when all the talk about Social Networking began, I thought it wouldn’t be around very long. Once it became really popular, many friends and colleagues suggested I get on board. Just what I don’t need, another thing to join, and frankly who has the time?

Well, after hearing about the benefits of Twitter for business from a well-respected source in the wedding industry, I decided I would give it a try. Everyday, I’m amazed at the things I find, people I meet (or follow), and the vast amount of information that is shared.

As I continue to grow and build a presence on Twitter, I’ll share my findings and tips on how Twitter can be helpful in planning your wedding as a bride or industry professional. So today’s Twitter Tip: Join Twitter!! You can find me at www.twitter.com/imatrimony.

Happy Tweeting!!

{Technista Talk} Runaway Bride

Filed Under Technista Talk | 1 Comment

After the New Year, many brides vow to Get Out and Get In Shape for their wedding day. Running, or jogging, is a great wedding workout that gets your heart rate up, and helps you countdown those cardio calories. One of my favorite tech gadgets to workout with is the Nike + iPod Sports Kit.

nike+ {Technista Talk} Runaway Bride

Nike has developed this great product, that allows you to track your runs while listening to your favorite music on your iPod.  The Nike + iPod Sports Kit is $29, and comes with a wireless sensor, and a wireless receiver. The wireless sensor goes into your running shoes, while the wireless receiver attaches to your iPod. The Nike + iPod Sports Kit  gives you real-time feedback as you progress through your run, and allows you to track your performance from your Mac or PC.

With your Nike + account, you can keep track of your Runs, Set Goals, or Create your own Training Program.

Join the Nike + Community, to connect with brides all over the world or create a Bridal Challenge of your own and get your bridesmaids involved.

The Powersong is one of my favorite features. Your Powersong is that song that gets you pumped, and gives you a second wind. Feeling like you can’t take it anymore?  Just press the center button and your Powersong is instantly activated giving you the inspiration to push right  through your workout.

So, when you need a break from all the wedding planning details. Grab your Nike + iPod Sports Kit and feel the bridal burn.
