Day 2 – Measure your Wedding Blog Success

Establishing a purpose for your wedding blog goes hand in hand with setting goals for the blog. In setting goals, you will need to have tools in place to measure and track your progress and success. Your goals could be simply to have 100 subscribers in one month, or 3,000 unique visits a day. Setting goals for your wedding blog will also help with measuring your “Return on Blogging Investment.” Although, your wedding blog may be a labor of love, most create a wedding blog desiring a return on the investment.

What topics are your readers most interested in on your blog? How many people visit your wedding blog directly versus subscribing? Where are your visitors located, locally or globally? What keywords are your readers searching before reaching your wedding blog? Is your wedding blog generating leads for your product or service? Answering these questions will give you insight on your RBI, and show you what areas or topics need adjusting.

Here are a few of my favorite standard web analytics tools for measuring your wedding blog success:

Google Analytics/Feedburner
Yahoo Web Analytics
OnlineWebStat.com
Sitemeter
PercentMobile (Here’s a recent iMatrimony post on the PercentMobile App.)

Note: If you have a Wordpress blog, the WP Stats plugin is a great tool for measuring the traffic to your blog as well.

Day 2 Task – Set a Goal and Install a Measuring Tool

Today’s task is three-fold. Set at least one goal you feel is attainable, and can be measured at the end of the 30 Days to Build a Better Wedding Blog . Secondly, install a measuring tool to measure the success of your goal. Lastly, decide how often to view your reports, be it weekly, monthly, or quarterly. Set yourself up for WEDDING BLOG SUCCESS!!
